Plastic Surgery

When we say plastic surgery, the first thing that comes to mind are aesthetic procedures to correct or improve physical appearance. However, this specialty is of great importance in medicine, beyond the aesthetic purposes that can be given to it.

What does Plastic Surgery consist of?

There are certain injuries, trauma, accidents and even congenital abnormalities that require plastic surgery to achieve proper tissue repair. After this procedure is performed, a long and complex recovery process begins.

This is where physiotherapy comes into play, allowing the patient to have a less traumatic recovery, with less suffering and more efficient. In this way, it fulfills the following functions:

  • Avoid or minimize post-traumatic stress complications, such as edema, fibrosis or extreme tenderness.
  • Shorten the time it takes to complete the recovery process.
  • Minimize the pain and discomfort that the patient will experience after surgery.
  • In procedures such as liposuction or abdominoplasty, techniques are used to reorient collagen.
  • For breast interventions there are certain manual techniques that seek to avoid the possible encapsulation of the implants and to maintain the mobility of the upper limbs.
